
Adult Mental Health First Aid

Join the Southwest Washington Area Health Education Center (AHEC) for this FREE Adult Mental Health First Aid course. This course will be a blended format that will include two hours of self-paced pre-work to complete prior to the instructor led session. Mental Health First Aid is an evidence-based course from the National Council for Mental Wellbeing that will teach you how to recognize, understand and respond to signs of mental health and/or substance use challenges – and offer the first level of support. A First Aider can be anyone who wants to make their community healthier, happier and safer for all.
- Learn common signs and symptoms of mental health challenges and substance use challenges.
- Build your own resiliency.
- Be prepared to help others and learn how to connect a person with tools and resources to assist on the journey towards recovery.
- Gain the confidence to start conversations about mental health so people can get stigma-free support.
- Find confidence in interacting with a person in crisis.
Upon completion, you will receive a three-year certificate from the National Council for Mental Wellbeing, accredited for six hours of CEU through the National Association for Social Work WA
